Implementation of ACMECS for land development between 2004-2016
1. Cooperation between Thailand and Lao PDR
Cooperation between Thailand (Land Development Department; LDD) and Lao PDR (Department of Agricultural Land Management; DALaM) began in 2005. Key activities included training on soil surveying, basic and advanced land use planning, soil improvement, agricultural land development, building capacity for technology transfer in land development, and establishment of Volunteer Soil Doctors in Lao PDR. In 2015, soil doctor network was initiated for the first time and scaled up in 108 villages where most farmers have cultivated jasmine rice and the cooperation is considered to be a success.

2. Cooperation between Thailand and Cambodia
The Land Development Department has operated the AC-4 project under the Thai-Cambodian ACMECS framework from 2004 to the present. Thai and Cambodian officials have conducted soil surveys and land use planning in five areas in 2004 and have created a soil survey and land evaluation of the selected areas in Cambodia report with soil suitability maps for rice, corn, soybean and sugarcane on a scale of 1:100,000. There were training providing to Cambodian officials in several topics such as surveying and land use planning, techniques of soil surveying and land use planning, soil management, establishment of learning centres and transferring technology for land development. Furthermore, LDD has cooperated with the University of Battambang to build the capacity of personnel on transferring land development technology, including organizing training and supporting the establishment of the Soil Museum in Battambang University as a source of knowledge and training for farmers, students, and general public.

3. Cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar
Cooperation between Thailand (Land Development Department; LDD) and Myanmar has started in 2006 where LDD officials attended a meeting with senior leaders of the Myanmar to discuss on the project. However, activities could not be carried out due to the lack of a coordinator. Late in 2014, a delegation from the LDD and the Office of Agricultural Economics visited Myanmar again and discussed with the Thai Ambassador to Myanmar about the implementation of the ACMECS project framework. In 2015, LDD then invited the executives of Myanmar to participate in the workshop and create a cooperation plan in Thailand, including participate in a field trip visiting volunteer soil doctor and land management at the Land Development regional Office 10. In 2016, training on "Introduction to Soil Survey and Land Use Planning" was organized for 10 civil servants of Myanmar, together with Cambodia and Lao PDR. During the discussion between Thailand and Myanmar, the Sin Thay Sub Watershed in Naypyidaw, Myanmar, with an area of approximately 131,250 rai, was selected as a representative area for further land development cooperation.
